Skip Carney

Skip Carney of Carney & Co. will be discussing the characteristics of a leader as seen in the biblical story of Nehemiah on March 15th. What is leadership? Who is a leader? Who can be a leader? Nehemiah was not a “leader”. He had no followers. He had no mission. One day, he learned of a problem that changed everything for him and the people of his homeland.

Skip Carney has never had a resume and he has been in the same job since January 1st, 1980. He came to Rocky Mount in 1977 as Program Director and air personality at WRMT radio. In 1980, he started a recording studio and advertising agency and began helping local companies with their advertising. Since that time, Carney & Company has worked with hundreds of organizations throughout the U.S. to innovate their marketing. He blogs and speaks nationally on Marketing Innovation, leadership, and creative problem-solving.

He is the recipient of the the American Advertising Federation’s prestigious Silver Medal Award, past president of the Marketing Communications Agency Network, The Eastern Carolina Advertising Federation,and the Rocky Mount Rotary Club and is active in many civic and non-profit organizations. He and his wife Karen live in Rocky Mount. They have three daughters and four grandchildren.
