October 17, 2018 – Holly Sweat
October 17, 2018 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Holly Sweat hails from that small Pennsylvania town of Punxsutawney made famous by Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. Much like the theme of that movie Holly has a way of finding the extraordinary where most can only see the average or mundane. This ability has served her well as she has worked with people to bring out their best and achieve their most important goals.
Holly earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with minors in Biblical Studies and Sociology at Houghton College, NY. She went on to obtain her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1986.
Her professional career began in Atlanta as a psychotherapist. There she managed a full caseload of patients whose diagnoses ranged from schizophrenia to bipolar disorders. The next step on Holly’s career path was as the Executive Director of a counseling center which she used to gain the experience necessary to start her own practice.
In 1996 Holly and her family relocated to North Carolina. Since that time Holly has held such notable positions as EAP Clinician (Employee Assistance Program) with Gaston-Lincoln Mental Health, Director of Career Services for Gardner Webb University, and her most recent position Director of Workforce and Career Development at Cleveland Community College. In all of these capacities she has worked with both employers and individuals to identify needs and find practical solutions in order to maximize their strengths and promote their success.
Like so many others, a great deal of Holly’s expertise has come from real life experience and personal trials. Holly has been touched by the divorce of her parents, the loss of her brother to cancer, and the failure of her first marriage. However, she has found the strength and courage to not only survive these challenges but also the wisdom to use them to help her thrive. She now has a healthy family her husband Dan is an attorney and her twins Mason and Taylor are attending college.
Holly is not just a motivational speaker and professional trainer, she is someone who has survived and flourished using the principles and skills that she shares daily.
